Still rolling
I’ve been impressed with the way Laura has continued to work toward getting a job. I’ve helped with her resume and application but she has also proactively looked up resources and recommendations for getting back into the workforce after being a stay at home Mom. I’m encouraging her when she has doubts (“what if this…

Discipline yourself to have sacred, quiet time
Quiet time is sacred time—time that will facilitate personal revelation and instill peace. Discipline yourself to have time alone and with your loved ones. Open your heart to God in prayer. Take time to immerse yourself in the scriptures and worship in the temple. This is another tidbit from President Nelson’s priesthood session talk in…

A place of serenity
Between now and the time the Lord comes again, we all need our homes to be places of serenity and security. I read this in President Nelson’s priesthood session talk from April 2021 and it resonated with me because that is exactly what I am trying to transform my home into right now.

Unqualified success
For all the campaigns about preferring archery to axe and knife throwing everyone had fun with the axe and knife throwing this morning. For the most part everyone helped with cleaning up and Old Pinery was a decided success with everyone wanting to come back and stay even longer. Now the boys need to turn…

Old Pinery at last
We finally made it to Old Pinery. We had six of us come as Laura and Bex decided to join while Alex (not very surprisingly) decided to stay home. We’ve had a very nice time so far although the kids weren’t all that impressed with the challenge course. The missionaries here let us use the…

More baby steps
Laura had continued to make bits of progress on looking for a job. I found a copy of a resume Laura did for an audition a few years ago but then Laura found a copy of her work resume from someone when we still lived in Bountiful. We have a lot of work to do…

Still moving forward
I’m finding that Laura and I are still not doing regular couple study again. We still study, just inconsistently but at least I have begun studying talks in the evening the last couple of days again. (That’s why I’m late going to bed tonight.) On the other hand, Laura is still talking proactively about getting…

Ministering progress
It’s been less than 2 months since Brother Arnett and I did ministering visits. That’s huge progress from before when it took a year for us to visit again. I didn’t have much to say but at least I put forth the effort to make the appointment.

Sleepless night
I had an incredible recovery today after a stunted and delayed start. Last night I couldn’t get to sleep because my brain was reconfiguring our social safety net as well as designing my new quiet builder tool. I saw the clock at 11:57 and my mind was spinning for a long time after that. I…

Another prayer upgrade
In reading President Nelson’s article from January 2021 I realized one tweak I need to make in my prayers. I have gotten much better about speaking and exploring the things I’m concerned about but I am not always taking time to listen closely after I finish talking. I’m going to try being better at listening…
