  • A new start?

Enoch actually went to class today (it’s been nearly 2 months that he’s been skipping). It would be good if this was the beginning of a new, healthy pattern but I won’t be holding my breath yet.

  • Year end reviews

Once again my annual review provided a raise large enough to cover the increased insurance premiums for the coming year. I also got to talk to the psychiatrist who is working with Isaac now. He’s already thinking of shaking up the medications. I sent him the results of the generic testing we had for Isaac.

  • Sunday dinner

After barely being able to find the dishes needed to make dinner I was finally so fed up with the fact that nobody else is responsible for anything related to making it possible to use the kitchen that I announced as we started dinner that I will not longer be cooking Sunday dinners. Everyone else…

  • Down day

Today has been tough for me. I discovered that Enoch had stolen all the Halloween candy from my closet then Emma mentioned that he has also admitted to stealing from the dollar store. Combining those discoveries with his attitude today – including calling Emma an expletive when she didn’t spend her shop with a cop…

  • Punching the ocean

I have come to describe Enoch fighting against me as punching the ocean. No matter how much you punch the ocean it never changes the ocean. Not only that but all that punching doesn’t benefit you either I have decided, at least for now, that I’m going to pay as much attention to Enoch’s punching…

  • An Enoch day

I was supposed to take Enoch for an intake evaluation so obviously he actually decided to go to school today. I went to the school to pick him up just as class was starting and his teacher confirmed that he didn’t come to class. When I called Summit about rescheduling they said that his refusal…

  • Running like crazy

I can’t believe how much running around I had to do today. Unexpectedly I had to take Enoch to school because he tried staying home. I went straight from there to an IEP review for Ezra and then straight from there to take Isaac to Newport Academy. The dropoff that I thought was going to…

  • A new beginning

I spent much of today, especially after getting the call from Newport Academy saying that they had a room for Isaac starting tomorrow, getting ready to take him to residential treatment. I bought extra clothing and toiletries consistent with their requirements because while Isaac may be content with 2 shirts and 2 pairs of exercise…

  • Insurance approval

Just before I finished the commute home from work I got a call from Newport Academy saying that insurance has approved Isaac for 2 weeks of residential treatment. (Their standard is to approve 2 weeks and reevaluate every 2 weeks for further approval until they determine that he’s ready for a lower level of treatment.)…

  • Frustrations

There were a few points today where I found myself frustrated by various things. I was frustrated when Laura wanted me to check people off sometimes. The frustration isn’t having to check people off, it’s that she wishes I would carry some of that burden even when she is around as if I should be…
