  • The covenants of day and night

The Lord promises that only if His covenants that day and night shall each come in their time will it be possible to break his covenant with Israel.

  • A fresh covenant

The Lord promises to make a new covenant with Israel. The question I have is whether that refers to modern Israel and the restoration or if it is a new covenant with the Jews. If it is the second option I would them wonder if we will even recognize it be aware of that new…

  • Yet to be fulfilled

I believe the project of Jeremiah about Jacob being redeemed and healed is often thought to have referred to Israel being released from Babylon and Assyria to return to Jerusalem. That may have been a fulfillment but i think it refers to a more complete healing and redemption at our just prior to the Second…

  • Endless consistency

Christ testifies to the people in their distress “How oft have I gathered you? How oft would I father you buy you would not be gathered? How oft will I gather you if you repent?” His posture never changes—He always stands ready and willing to gather people to Him.

  • Will we have a public explanation?

After the destruction the voice of Jesus explained to all the people what has happened and why. I wonder of any of the events preceding the Second Coming will receive a public explanation similar to this.

I can totally see our nation falling apart like this. The secret combinations destroyed the regulations of the government (which could yet happen to us) and the society devolved into tribes of like-minded individuals. They were not united in their laws but they were united in their hatred of that group and their desire to…

  • Reverting to pride

It is amazing how fast the people returned from the brink of destruction to enter into secret combinations against the law. I see us being that unstable.

  • A ray of hope

I notice a ray of hope in the words of Jeremiah—the Lord is always willing to turn back from His decreed wrath for a people who will repent and turn to Him. If they heard that they could choose to repent rather than get angry at the punishments he outlined because of their wickedness.

  • Immigrants, orphans, and women

The Lord promised Israel that they would be established forever if they would refrain from oppressing those who were at the greatest disadvantage among them. He specifically called it immigrants (strangers), orphans (the fatherless), and women (widows – those who are without built-in protection).
