Whom the Lord loveth He correcteth
Not that this is a new concept for me but the full version of Proverbs 3:12 is “For whom the Lord loveth he correcteth; even as a father the son in whom he delighteth.” Tonight that hit me differently because I know by experience that only a father who does not delight in his son…

Where are modern the sons of Helaman?
Wouldn’t it be wonderful today if we had an army of young people willing to commit to defend liberty at all costs and willing to follow the directions if a righteous leader got that cause?

Don’t rile Moroni
Ammoron blatantly lied in his episode to Moroni and it caused Moroni to abandon the deal he had proposed (well, he took the harder interpretation of his own proposal) so that, instead of exchanging prisoners (getting himself from needing to maintain Nephite prisoners and strengthening his army with soldiers who had been taken prisoner, Ammoron…

Turned to good
It’s easy to applaud everything that Moroni did because he was a righteous man but I can’t honestly believe that his episode here was inspired but the Lord turned it to God by inspiring Moroni’s response to Ammoron’s belligerent reply.

Dead inside
I read 9 chapters of Psalms, including the longest (Psalm 119), and it’s just words. I feel dead inside at the reminder that nothing I have tried to do means anything to Laura. She can claim that we had a good weekend in Jackson Hole but really she had a vacation and I was along…

The cause of freedom
Moroni went against the king men and compelled them to raise the Title of Liberty over their cities. This cost him in his preparations against the Lamanites but it was the more important fight at the time. Where is our Title of Liberty today? Who will be our freemen? Will we recognize the importance of…

Layers of defense
Moroni started by providing protection to his individual soldiers by employing armor but then he balance bruising defenses for each of the neighbor cities. He went beyond that as well by creating an overall defensive perimeter for the whole land of the Nephites. He was never satisfied with any single layer of defense. He was…
