Two paths diverged
Satan seeks to convince people to put something, anything (wealth, power, strength, wisdom, popularity, fear, desires) before God in their lives. The path to exaltation is to put God before everything else.
-
Omniscience
If we believe in the goodness of God and that he is actively interested in our welfare then it would be comforting to know that he has foreknowledge with such to make correct decisions for our benefit.
-
A comforting acknowledgement
It should be comforting to Israel that the Lord acknowledges their suffering. There is no “it could have been much worse” simply “I will come and take your suffering out of your hands.’
-
To which of my creditors…
It struck me as interesting that the Lord would ask “to which of my creditors have I sold you?” It should be telling to the people of the covenant if they stop to consider that the Lord has no creditors—he is the creditor for all who have spiritual debts.

Quoting Isaiah
I have always thought that there were parts of Isaiah that were quoted more than once. I finally took the time to verify that the words of Isaiah that Jacob quotes in 2 Nephi 6 were also quoted by Nephi in 1 Nephi 21.

The second plates
I never connected the fact that Nephi made his second set of plates after separating from the Lamanites. I wonder if part of the reason was so there would be a record that the Lamanites were unaware of in case they destroyed one record.

Isaac’s perspective
I think of Isaac going with his father for the sacrifice and i wonder what Isaac knew and what he believed. Did he feel some assurance they they were about the errand of the Lord? Had he received some assurance that if he was patient in obedience to his father that all would come right?…
-
A stumbling block before me
When we encounter stumbling blocks, can we tell if they were placed there by the Lord? It’s it just a matter of faith that determines is we believe they were?
-
Needing a spokesman
I wonder if and Joseph Smith both needing someone else to act as spokesman helped to keep them humble after they had been called—a reminder that it was not their work to do alone.

A public blessing
I never noticed before that although Lehi is speaking to Jacob here he is also speaking for the other brothers to hear and learn. These blessings must have been given in a family council type of setting.
