The spirit had withdrawn
The Nephites finally saw their true situation, that they had abandoned the Lord and were suffering the consequences. When do we, today, recognize how much we have abandoned the Lord and brought upon us the problems that we are trying to stand off through more wickedness?

Rotting inside
During the several years of peace there was rot and pride growing among the people that eventually led to losing almost all their lands.

Whosoever will
As challenging as it is to stay on the straight and narrow path we have the promise that anyone who diligently sells to last hold of the word of God can successfully navigate the path across the eternal pit prepared for the wicked.

Not connecting
I don’t know what it is about Paul’s words to the Corinthians but I just don’t connect with much of what he said. Maybe at some other point in my life I’ll see more there.

A veil over the heart
Paul’s words make me think. The Jews read the old testament with a veil over their heart so that they could not see clearly the message of Christ in the covenant but eventually the veil will be removed so that they can clearly see the stone that they stumbled upon.

We sometimes forget that the record we have of the Nephites and Lamanites was written almost completely by the Nephites while the information we have about Native Americans is primarily compiled by archeologists and European settlers.
