  • Halting between two opinions

The people seem divided in their opinions of Christ at this time. In one moment they are declaring Him the promised Messiah and in another they are arguing with Him about their loyalty to Abraham’.

  • Knit together

The first thing that Limhi did after finding out that Ammon had come from Zerahemla was to have admin teach his people about the history since they had separated and then to teach Ammon about the history of his people since they had separated. Starting from a shared past they began by articulating the experiences…

  • Left behind

I wonder what Ammon’s men who were left behind thought when he took three of his men and then failed to return for several days.

  • Why record their names?

King Benjamin wasn’t trying to form a church or other organization so why did he think it necessary to take them names of those who had entered the covenant? • Power to tread on serpents and scorpions

I think when Christ gave the missionaries power to tread on serpents and scorpions it has even more to do with the serpents and scorpions among men than it did with the dangerous reptiles and arachnids under foot.

  • Forgiven as we forgive

Somehow I never connected the parable about the Lord giving the debt of his servant with the petition in the Lord’s prayer “forgive us our debts as we forgive our debtors.”

  • Glad tidings

It hit me in a new way tonight that this clear declaration of the imminent coming of Christ would have been had in many nations in the time period of king Benjamin—we just don’t have the records of those nations yet. Perhaps it was a not so distant prophecy like this that prepared the wise…

  • Lehi’s foundation

I don’t think we often consider how unusual it was that Lehi had the foundation to be able to establish a separate people who could keep the commandments. Having the sacred records on the brass plates would have been useless without the education to read them. Thus a less educated man, no matter how righteous…
