  • Losing John

I wonder how Jesus felt hearing that John the Baptist had been killed. Has he known it would come? Did it signal a new phase in His own mission?

  • Philosophies of men mingled with scripture

How often do people turn to the scriptures to find some justification for a wickedness they desire to pursue? The Nephites did it. The RLDS have done it. I’m sure there are many instances that are not so well known and not just related to plural marriage.

  • What changed?

What changed after Nephi died that the people began seeking to have extra wives and concubines? Was it the loss of his influence or was it that they had been in the land long enough to be comfortable and start looking for ways to satisfy their baser desires?

I never noticed before that the scriptures clearly state that there were several women who were consistently with Jesus and the apostles. None of their names are surprises. Mary Magdalene, Joanna, and Susannah are the ones named.

  • Lest at any time…I should heal them

It must have been more poignant for Christ to say that He was speaking in parables lest the people should see and understand and He should heal them in the midst of when he was physically healing so many. He was freely giving the blessing of physical healing while confining the blessing of healing spiritual…

  • More sacred records

I have a feeling that at some point we will discover it be presented with more of the words of Christ to other nations and it will be interesting to see then how different people respond to further light.

  • Built upon sand

I never considered the implications that those who are built upon a sandy foundation are less open to further doctrine because if their foundation. With everything shaking beneath them they have no stability to incorporate more truth. Those who are built on a sure foundation have the security to evaluate and incorporate new doctrine when…
