I have wondered why Lehi would tell Joseph that he was born in the days of his (Lehi’s) greatest sorrow. A possibility I had never considered before is that he was calling Joseph a light in the trying days.

I never thought of it before but some of the early parts of what Lehi said to Jacob sounds almost as if he was giving him a blessing of counsel for his life. Later it just sounds like passing on his wisdom and testimony for all his children.

Laman and Lemuel might well have heard chastisement from Lehi but the message he wanted to cover was one of hope and promise if they would heed his advice.

Nephi read the scriptures to his brothers and they were paying attention enough to all him questions after. This is proof that they were not always fighting against spiritual things.

It just occurred to me that the Jewish settlements being built in Palestinian lands are a fulfillment if the project that the children will be so numerous after having lost the first that they will say “the land is too small.”

Let’s pick “Zion” rather than “Jerusalem” here. Those who talk about Zion and claim to be working for the building up of Zion but who are not actually working for Zion—by their fruits will they be known. We should be aligned with those whose work builds up Zion, not those whose words claim to build…

I never really thought before if the fact that neighbor didn’t make any records before arriving at the promised land. Not only that but the record that finally made it to us was made even later than that.

I was wondering why Nauvoo kept going on about his parents being sick near into death while he was bound by Laman and Lemuel but then i realized it was part of a larger effort to show the reader all the things that had failed to sway his brothers from their course against him. That…
