  • “Come and see…Come and see.”

I never noticed before the besides summarizing the ministry of John the Baptist the guest chapter if John recounts the gathering of four of the apostles. I also never noticed how clearly John declared to the pharisees that his baptism was a preparatory baptism.

  • Things as they really would be

After reading the records in the brass plates Lehi was able, through the spirit of prophecy, to tell his family everything that would happen in Jerusalem from his time until the resurrection of Christ.

  • Without understanding

How often does the Lord instruct us to do things without explaining the reasons behind the thing we have been asked to do? I know that sometimes we don’t have the capacity to understand the reasons but I think that there is also a principle that we need at times to act beyond our understanding…

  • Parable and vision

I just noticed that the various results of people coming out failing to come to the tree of life in Lehi’s vision is comparable to the parable of the sower that Jesus taught. How one starts is no guarantee of how one will finish.

  • Easily swayed

Laman and Lemuel didn’t complain about going back to Jerusalem to find wives but on the journey back with the family if Ishmael they began to complain again. I suspect they may have been influenced by some of the family of Ishmael (among his sons and daughters) who were not enthusiastic about leaving Jerusalem. (By…

  • Passing through sorrow

It was by passing through the Sirius and worry for her son’s that Sariah became fully confident in Lehi as a prophet.

Luke makes no mention of Mary and Joseph taking Jesus to Egypt for His safety. Instead he indicated that they went back to Nazareth after presenting Christ at the temple in Jerusalem. It makes me wonder if Luke ever learned that they stayed in Bethlehem for a couple of years until they escaped to Egypt…

  • Bethlehem to Nazareth

It sounds like Joseph and Mary had intended to stay in Bethlehem after Jesus was born rather than returning to Nazareth. In fact they did stay for about two years before being earned to leave immediately after the wise men departed. I imagine that by staying where Mary’s early pregnancy was not known to be…

  • Not knowing

Meu hard the voice of the Spirit warn about the dangers if a nation dwindling in unbelief. I can imagine that memory came back later when he had the vision of his people doing exactly that despite having the scriptures because of his efforts to get them from Laban.

  • Hard things

Laman and Lemuel said that Lehi was asking them to do a hard thing but I’m sure the travel was not the hard thing for them. If he had told them they could simply go home and Lehi would stay in the wilderness without them they wouldn’t have complained.
