Lehi spoke of receiving a land of promise as of it were an accomplished fact even though he had allot left Jerusalem within the fortnight. That speaks to his faith.

We know that Nephi didn’t expect to kill Laban but he also didn’t expect to bring back the servant of Laban with the plates. He simply followed as the Spirit lead doing things that made sense and things that probably didn’t.
