If Nephi hadn’t kept his head and turned to the Lord in their hour of need the families of Lehi and Ishmael would have either perished in the wilderness or become simply nomads as they were no longer led toward the promised land.

Did his brothers consider it hubris when Nephi offered a correction of what Lehi had seen in vision when they were asking him to explain the symbols of the dream?

Nephi is very clear that his record is anything but exhaustive. The point isn’t to write everything, it is to write that which is most important and to make sure that everything which is written us accurate spiritually.

The vision of Nephi was of Christ. The vision of Christ was them tired to the images from Lehi’s dream so that Nephi would understand the meaning of the dream.

I imagine that Lehi understood the symbolism of his dream but Nephi only heard the story from his father so he sought to see fit himself and know the meaning.

The key difference between Nephi and Laman was that Nephi desired to know for himself while Laman just grumbled that “the Lord maketh no such things known” to him.
