1 Nephi 3 – 5 One of the reasons that Nephi went so willingly was because he had just been receiving answers from the Lord and was still feeling the Spirit. On the other hand, Laman and Lemuel may only have gone because they still feared Lehi from when he confounded them upon arriving in…

1 Nephi 1 – 2 The Jews mocked Lehi in part because he testified of the coming of a Messiah. That flies in the face of the image that they have ever waited for His coming. It sounds like Lehi was commanded to leave Jerusalem but that it may have been Nephi who first learned…

1 Nephi 22 Nephi’s brothers seem to be asking an honest question here and I expect they started listening with open hearts. 1 Nephi 18 The reason the Laman and Lemuel began to make themselves merry and act with much rudeness was that they were not occupied with any activity. They did not become lascivious when they were traveling and hunting, nor when they were building the ship but now Nephi did the strafing and they simply…

1 Nephi 17 Why did the Lord call Nephi to build the ship instead of Lehi? I suspect it was because Nephi was young and had the energy to see the project through while Lehi was getting old enough that after eight years in the wilderness he may not have been able to tackle this…

1 Nephi 16 When Laman and Lemuel called Nephi’s words hard I have always thought they meant “unforgiving” or “harsh.” Now I wonder if part of what they meant was “confusing.” Nephi’s words really were not harsh or even unforgiving but for those who are past feeling the spirit of God they could well be…

1 Nephi 15 What did his brothers thing when Nephi not only expounded on the meaning of his father’s dream but even added a correction “dad failed to notice that the river was filthy.”
