  • Light in darkness

Isaiah continues to tell Israel that for their faithlessness they shall experience darkness but that despite the darkness God will bring light to the world through His covenant. The covenant doesn’t save from consequences but it does provide for their salvation if they will accept it.

  • Houses with no man

What would bring about the prophecy of houses with no man? Physical war, especially anciently, could result in the widespread death of men. Spiritual war could result in men abandoning their families and the houses they should occupy. Cultural war could strip the masculinity from the male populous. We’ve seen all three to one degree…

  • What is the Tabernacle?

  • O thou rock of our salvation

One you know that there is a sure foundation to build upon – one who will be faithful forever even when we falter in our humanity – why would you not going to that rock and return whenever you notice that you have strayed?

  • Speaking the truth

Isaiah, or the Lord for whom he speaks, is not taken in by the popular belief about what is happening to Israel. He knows that it is their choices that have separated then from God, not God turning His back on them.

  • Jacob

What did the people think of Jacob as he ministered along them? While Nephi was alive they must have been content with that because Nephi supported it and they trusted him. After Nephi fired did any of the people become less attentive to Jacob?
