The battle of warriors is noisy and bloody but the way the Lord fights trends to be loud obvious but undeniably effective – it is compared to fire. Instead of sending a general, Heavenly Father sent a baby who would grow to be a loving but exacting tutor.

We can find peace even in troubled times if we place our focus on Heavenly Father. On the other hand, we can be troubled and confused even in times of stability if we look elsewhere.

There are parts of Isaiah where I have no context, like how much should I expect a cow or goat to produce, or what is the expected yield of an acre of any given crop, and how much is a homer or a bath. Without that context I’m not always sure what to make of…

When Isaiah prophesies that within 65 years “Ephraim will be broken that it be not a people” that time frame is short in the eternal scheme and even in a national scheme but on an individual level that’s a long time.

Although the Lord broke down the hedge around the vineyard He didn’t sell it. It remains his even as he prefers it by removing the protective border around it.
