Anticipating promises
If the Lord has promised Israel that other nations shall be joined to them how should they respond to people who seek to be joined to them—how should they treat outsiders? If the believe the promises they should welcome any who come in peace.

Was this comforting?
I won’t if the people found of comforting to hear that although Babylon would overcome Israel as punishment for their wickedness, Babylon itself would be overthrown and left desolate later as consequence for its pride.

Praising the Lord
I wonder if all people (or even just most) have to experience the transition from feeling abandoned, ignored, or forgotten by the Lord to seeing His mighty hand activated in their lives so that all the former sorrow and suffering are forgotten in the present blessings.
