Limited understanding
Even David eu was consistently intent on giving honor to the Lord seems to have had limited understanding of what to expect from the Lord. It seems that a deep knowledge of God was not had upon the earth at that time.

Offerings that cost nothing
It is interesting to think of the implications of making offerings that cost nothing of the one making the offering. David recognized that such an offering would say nothing about the way his heart was inclined toward the Lord. He insisted that he offer only something that he had fairly paid for.

I had never realized that during the reign of David there was so much intrigue with his own son seeking to depose him. It reminds me of the tumult asking the Jaredites throughout their history.

So many instances of murder as the kingdom transfusions to David after the death of Saul. Repeatedly the liking are reported as the killer smiting the victim under the fifth rib. I wonder if there is some symbolism in that.

No hidden truth
There is nothing about the plan of salvation which was done in the dark. While no man may know the hour of His coming, yet He was openly declared before, during, and after his mortal mission.

A solid place
Christ is the solid place upon which men can build safely. He alone is the destination upon which they can land in the seat of spiritual storm and not be sweet away if they will cling to Him. Any other foundation will crumble in the storm sooner or later.
