Christlike
Jesus wasted no time in teaching His gospel when He visited the Nephites. He taught them about baptism (the covenant path) and how to be peaceable followers of Christ. Those who apply the beatitudes in adjusting their conduct will become more like Christ. Doing that and making covenants are the essence of the gospel. If…

Easter rebirth
It is fitting that I read of Christ visiting the Nephites on this matter weekend. It occurs to me that when Christ comes again he will do it in the spring – around Easter/Passover. When he reveals himself to the world he will do so by declaring the truth and making clear to whom he…

Introspection
What would you ponder in hours of silent darkness after great destruction followed by hearing the voice of the Lord? I would imagine much soul-searching and reflections upon how you had responded to invitations to repent prior to the destruction.

A reprieve
Between periods of gross wickedness, the Nephites had some years or righteousness during the lifetime of Jesus. Sadly they didn’t most of that time flirting with secret combinations which nearly destroyed them twice in three decades.

A late siege
The fact that the rivers tried to lay siege against the Nephites makes more sense when I consider that they did so after the Nephites had been sheltered together for four years. It would be reasonable to expect that their supplies were low by that time. Reasonable, but incorrect.

Hidden agenda
What made Giddianhi write his invitation/threat? The obvious motive was to convince the Nephites to surrender but I wonder why. He must have expected that winning an all out war would be costly and not certain to succeed. I suspect he also was growing tired of living in the wilderness and subsisting of what plunger…
