  • Jesus’ visit

The visit of Christ the first day must have only lasted for a few hours because there was time to travel that evening and gather more people. Another clue is that the disciples were able to teach all that He taught on the first day and then baptize people before His visit on the second…

  • Less explicit

When Jesus taught the disconnect how to baptize He gave them the very words to say. When He introduced the sacrament He didn’t tell them the words to say but it is easy to see how they settled on the specific wording if what became the standard sacramental prayers.

  • More than they could bear

When Jesus said it was time to go He also indicated that there was more which he needed to teach them that they were not yet ready to receive. Clearly Heavenly Father was willing to bless them until their cups were running over.

  • Other sheep

When the day comes that we gain the record of yet another set of sheep that Christ visited after His Resurrection we will have yet another clear evidence of the eternal plan and the fact that we have a loving Father in Heaven who had been watching out for His children for all of history.

  • “If you shall desire to come unto me”

How Central to the gospel is this injunction to be reconciled to your brother before you can truly come unto Heavenly Father? I think it is central enough that if we truly desire to come unto Him He will inspire us to recognize if our brother “hath ought against us.”

  • No hatred

That which stores up hatred goes against the doctrine of Christ. There may be things that we disagree about it do not share an understanding (such as the mode of baptism) but if we have anger it contends then that contention goes against His doctrine.

  • In the morning

It is fitting that the darkness dispersed at the beginning of the day. It would have been almost disappointing to have it disperse only to have night fall soon afterward.

  • A voice in the darkness

It must have been comforting in some degree to be able to focus on the voice in the darkness rather than simply the darkness itself and the fear of what destruction might still be coming.
