  • Short memory

How human it is that we have a short collective memory of those things which are more important (and a long memory it seems for the trivial). In less than 5 years after Samuel the people had forgotten the promised timing. And after his prophecy came true it was only a few short years before…

  • A complete record

Keeping records was important enough that Jesus took time to inspect the records of the Nephites and not omissions in the record for correction. When Samuel had made a prophet He considered it important that the record also show the fulfillment of that prophecy.

  • Among them like lions

It sounds as though the descendents of Israel will have multiple times when they shall cut down the wicked gentiles around them in this land – they they shall go through like lions whenever the Lord needs to cut back the arrogance of the gentiles that He has allowed to thrive in this promised land.

  • A purpose for all

The plan of salvation provides all nations with a designated place in spreading the opportunity for covenant making that all who will may be gathered in.

  • Gathering all night

It was only those who had faith who would spend all night gathering for Jesus to come on the morrow. That was why Jesus could show unto them such marvelous things as He never could do in Jerusalem because of unbelief.

After teaching the people not to refuse to associate with anyone Jesus taught the disciples that they should protect this who were unworthy from harming themselves by partaking of His covenant emblems while in a state of unworthiness. Outwardly some people might not be able to see the difference between preventing them from partaking of…

  • Turning away

Those who turn people away are inviting temptation to derail them. We are to hold up the light of Christ and do as He did. He specifically calls out His praying for the people and his choice to never turn anyone away.

  • Late sacrament

I never noticed before that Jesus didn’t administer the sacrament among the Nephites until after he had told them he had to leave.

  • Children learn differently

The reason that Jesus ministered separately to the children is that in their state of innocence they respond to different stimuli. Things that hold great meaning for adults are sometimes almost meaningless with children and things which carry great meaning to children are sometimes almost meaningless to adults. When we reach children we must meet…
