Church leading to wickedness
Alma’s experience if watching the example of those in the church leading those outside the church on to greater and greater wickedness makes me imagine what it would be like today to see members of the church leading others towards iniquity. I’m sure in Alma’s day and ours that the reality was that the leaders…

Secession
When the people who wanted Amlici as their king lost the vote they made Amlici their king anyway, seceding from the Nephites then didn’t to subjugate the Nephites. I wonder if we will ever come to a time in this nation where a faction secedes because if a desire to follow a specific purpose (different…

Firm and undaunted
I used to think that I was like the sons of Helaman – obedient and full of faith – but I much more identify with the other Nephite armies who had moments of doubt and were beaten down from time to time that they needed someone to step in and save then from destruction.

Stripling reinforcements
Never before have I considered the position of Antipus when Helaman arrived. This time I saw myself in him and his men – being depressed in body and spirit from having fought valiantly and toiled mightily to maintain my family. I will be praying for such reinforcements to strengthen me.

Role reversal
While Moroni wouldn’t attack the Lamanites while they were drunk I can just imagine what Ammon would have done if he had thought of the same strategy. I’m confident that one he had his enemies drunk he might well have armed the prisoners first but having dinner so he would then have fallen upon his…
