How do we use the principle of supporting witnesses? Alma testified using the scriptures while Amulek testified for himself. Two teachers and two different kinds of witnesses all witnessing the same truth.

The first part of Alma’s answer was that prayer could be done anywhere. The second part of his answer was that exercising faith must include having faith centered in the Son of God.

When the people asked Alma how to exercise faith he reminded them that the scriptures clearly taught that prayer and worship could happen anywhere, not just in the synagogues. Exercising faith would mean beginning to pay in the places they could go rather than despairing of the synagogues they had been expelled from.
