God vs Hatred
While Amalikiah was pointing the Lamanites toward hated of the Nephites, Moroni was pointing the Nephites tears trust in God. The contrast couldn’t be more stark.

Inspire the people
After Amalikiah had gained the throne of the Lamanites he did what he would have done in the first place if his shoe intent had been to attach the Nephites, he inspired the people with stories about how bad the Nephites were. He knew how to get what he wanted. He bypassed that step because…

I can’t believe they fell for it
It seems incredible that the people would believe that the servants of the king would kill him and yet, the only person who seems to have questioned that claim was the queen and she had no way to know that the answer she got was the testimony of the murderers. Aside from that widespread lack…

Part of Moroni’s frustration was likely the fact that these dissenters had rebelled against the leaders of the church which they had claimed membership in before, leaders who Moroni fully supported because of his faith.

Amalikiah’s rise
I never connected the dots before that Amalikiah rose to prominence amidst the dissensions from the church after Helaman began establishing a regulation of the church and many rebelled at his preaching. In other words, Amalikiah was likely a member of the church who, like so many others, kicked himself out when he didn’t like…

There arose a dissension
I’ve thought before that the people of the church who dissented when Helaman began his role as prophet did so because they were attached to his predecessor/father. That may be true but it is also possible that this happened simply because once the regulation was made they were unwilling to comply and would have done…
