Day of rest
Church went fairly smoothly today. Afterward we went to visit Mom while dropping off the lawnmower and leaving the trailer for Bill to use in moving. Finally, Isaac and I went to the Alpine Tabernacle for stake general priesthood meeting – which turned out to be just what my soul needed (specifically president Livingston’s talk).…

Coconut is back
We finally got Coconut home. I got a fence set up in the East side yard. It’s nice, sturdy, decorative, and relatively subtle. She’s got a decent little area to live in and we can open the back gate to let her into the back yard when we choose. I might even make it so…

Case closed … again
The good news for today is that our DCFS case is again closed. Becca mentioned in an email that Enoch had been interviewed by phone and she had taken notes. Soon after I read that I got a call from Adelyn asking for contact information for Mom. She said that the boys had only talked…

DCFS for Grandma
We meet with Adelyn today and felt that we had a good meeting where she understood how responsive we had been to finding solutions in contradiction of what she had been concerned about. Looking at changes
As we continue to struggle for stability in our family we are constantly looking at potential changes, big and small, which might achieve our goal. Currently we are working with Mom to bring more appreciation and training so that the kids develop more consistent habits of doing the little things to keep the home up.…

Journaling 2018
51 weeks ago (yesterday) I began journaling again regularly. Of course everything was focused on Laura. Laura tried to kill herself. Laura’s in the ICU. Laura’s in the psych ward. Laura’s at Mom’s house. Laura had a good day. Laura had a bad day. When it no longer seemed compelling to report on Laura daily…

Total eclipse
Today we had the experience of seeing a total solar eclipse. The event was awe inspiring. The moment that the moon fully covered the sun all the people began to cheer and exclaim their amazement (despite the fact that they all anticipated the event). No picture can capture what we saw with it eyes and…

Gospel in action
Brigham Young told the saints at conference when he heard about the Willie and Martin handcart companies that they would never save one soul unless the practiced what he was about to preach. His sermon was to rescue those saints. That came to mind this morning when I woke up to find a text from…
