  • The final chance

Did ether know that when he was told to invite Coriantumr to repent it was the final opportunity for the Jaredites? Whether he knew it or not it was their final chance and they rejected it.

  • Ether came forth

Ether was born in captivity as a member of the royal family. His father’s had been in captivity for at least two generations before him and yet he came forth from captivity. I honestly believe that he was released because he was seen as not being a that to the king who then occupied the…

  • Prophets mourned and withdrew

When the record days that the progress withdrew, does that mean that they acted as Mormon did for a portion of his life – standing as idle witness to the destruction because the people rejected the call to repentance? That sounds like something that could happen in our day – the people often reject calls…

  • Follow the king

It is interesting how much influence a leader exerts on a people. When there were wicked kings the people under them were consistently wicked (not each individual but in agregate). They may start on one nation but will not limit themselves to such a scope.

  • Shule

In his life, Shule had to wrest the kingdom from a wicked brother and then defend it against usurpers. He had to defend the prophets against his own people until they were brought to repentance.

  • Using a storm

Did the Lord use a storm or series of storms (perhaps even a hurricane) to drive the people of Jared and his brother to the promised land? We don’t have enough information to know if a hurricane was involved but “furious winds”must surely have qualified as a storm at least part of the time.

  • Knowledge preserved

Alma told Helaman that the record of Ether should be kept safe so that the works of darkness would not come among the Nephites. It was also to preserve the explicit knowledge of Christ that the brother of Jared had recorded.

  • Redeemed by faith

The brother of Jared was told that he was redeemed from the fall. By being in the presence of Christ a redemption had taken place but I feel this declaration was also an indication of a calling and election made sure. I look forward to that day – even if it is after this life.
