  • Before the succession

What was the government like among the Jaredites before they asked for a king? I imagine it was very informal as people looked to Jared and his brother for guidance. The people must have seen them as being nearly kings and only wanted a clear line of succession from their two coequal heads.

  • So them to some

Joseph was told that he could show the plates to some people. He was never given a number. Eventually he showed them to eight people. Joseph was just to select from those who had helped being forth the church. The specific Three Witnesses weren’t too be shown or chosen by Joseph but we’re to be…

  • Sacred writing

It was critical that a righteous man translate the record of Ether because if it had been open to anyone there would be no guarantee that they would preserve the non-public nature of that record prior to the death of Christ. With Mosiah translating the record, he honored the command of the Lord to the…

  • Is there more?

The revelations that are the most spiritually significant seem never to be the answers to the questions that were first asked, but rather are the answers that are given because if faith to questions that someone never considered asking before the revelation. • How many nations?

We know that the people of Lehi were chosen to posses this land as were the people of Jared. That got me thinking that we don’t know if there were other groups also chosen to posses this land. If so I would imagine that we will someday have their records. In fact, they may be…

While the Brother of Jared was highly favored of the Lord, Jared was obviously in tune with the Spirit that he would request that his brother petition the Lord for those things which they were blessed with as a result of his requests.

  • Speedy destruction

Coriantumr and Shiz doesn’t fit years gathering their maximum armies for the final confrontation and within a matter of days both armies had been entirely destroyed. It must have been frustrating for Ether to observe this terrible destruction.

  • Coriantumr repents too late

I think it is a sign of genuine repentance (even if it is possibly incomplete) that Coriantumr offers to give up the kingdom in order to save the people after Ether had promised that he could keep the throne if he would repent. Unfortunately he hasn’t been willing to take that offer years before.

  • A moment of humanity

Shiz displayed a moment of humanity when he called his armies to not pursue the army of Coriantumr when he thought that Coriantumr was dead.

  • Genocide

I wonder how the Jaredites war compares to modern events such as the genocides in Rwanda or Cambodia. I’m confident that the one among the Jaredites was larger in scale – likely in pure numbers but certainly in percentage of the overall population (neither of those reached anywhere near 90%) – but I’m really curious…
