While the Brother of Jared was highly favored of the Lord, Jared was obviously in tune with the Spirit that he would request that his brother petition the Lord for those things which they were blessed with as a result of his requests.

Coriantumr and Shiz doesn’t fit years gathering their maximum armies for the final confrontation and within a matter of days both armies had been entirely destroyed. It must have been frustrating for Ether to observe this terrible destruction.

I think it is a sign of genuine repentance (even if it is possibly incomplete) that Coriantumr offers to give up the kingdom in order to save the people after Ether had promised that he could keep the throne if he would repent. Unfortunately he hasn’t been willing to take that offer years before.
