Choice enough
How often do we, like the brother of Jared, self for blessings from the Lord that we find to be choice and stop seeking for further direction and insight when the Lord is willing to give us more than we have already received? This reminds me of the message from Elder Richard G. Scott in…

Invisible witness
It sounds as if the final days of battle ranged from place to place. If that is the case, were they all near the place where ether was hidden or did they just end up in his vicinity? I assume they were all close by for him to be able to count the number of…

Contrite Coriantumr
When Coriantumr began to norm the fallen off his people he was contrite enough to offer up the kingdom. I wonder if he truly believed that or if he made the offer expecting that the promise of Ether would be activated so that he would still end up retaining the kingdom. Personally I suspect that…

The final throws
What would people feel like at a time when all of society is picking sides in the war and both sides are being brutal to any who are not on their side? I can see how people would feel compelled to join a side. Fighting would seem the only path with any possibility of saving…

He could not be kept
When or how does faith become so strong that it cannot be bound by the veil? The neither of Jared had such faith but so did the ancestors of Moroni regarding their sacred records. When do we get to the point that we know our faith is an accurate reflection of the will of the…

Faith after repentance?
Ether exhorted the people to have faith after they had rejected the message to repent at least three times. Was he trying a different tactic by offering a message of hope rather than condemnation?

Three witnesses
I never noticed the pattern before but the progress came the separate times to warn the Jaredites. They came once and we’re rejected by the people but protected by the king. Later they came again and withdrew because the people rejected them. Finally they came and we’re again rejected because of the secret combinations among…

All kinds
I appreciate the variety of leaders in this chapter. There are righteous kings, wicked kings, kings who gain power through war and then do justice and kings who do public justice even while being personally wicked. The only thing you won’t see is a long who is personally righteous but publicly corrupt.
