Preparation
Even expecting that they will be led to a promised land, the people of Jared prepared every needful thing for the land they would come to, bringing seeds, fish and even honey bees to make the land fruitful when they arrived.

It’s there a pattern?
The neither of hatred repeatedly asked things in prayer which were answered promptly. Is there a pattern to be understood in knowing which requests will get such quick attention vs which ones will only receive answers “in the Lord’s time”? I know that I have received prompt answers on a variety of requests and yet…

No wasting resources
Moroni makes it clear that he can’t afford to waste resources of time, energy or ore with this record. He confines himself to those parts of the record which are not already available through other sources.

How far would Coriantumr have gone?
I wonder if Coriantumr would have been willing to give himself up as Shiz demanded of his people had not gotten angry at the people of Shiz. How committed was he to trying to save the people? Rejecting righteous leadership
When the people are wicked enough to fight against and ignore a righteous leader that is a pretty good indication that they are growing ripe in iniquity. Wicked people with a wicked leader tells us less about the state of their friends than wicked people who will not be influenced by a righteous leader.

Public vs private virtute
The record about Morianton is interesting as it calls out the discrepancy between his public works (which were just) and his private behavior (which was unjust). The fact that public and private behaviors don’t always match is one of the reasons that we must withhold judgement regarding our fellow men. We may see good works…

Divine disfavor
The reign of Heth was interesting as it seems the people were so universally wicked that the Lord took it upon Himself to punish them with famine and possible serpents because while they were wicked they apparently didn’t descend to warfare as in other generations of wickedness.
