Partial vision
Jarom seems to have only a partial vision of the paper of the plates that were entrusted to him such that he didn’t think there was anything he could add to the record. He thought it was only to keep there genealogy because ask their prophesying had already been done. It should be no wonder…

Jarom
Did Jarom choosing not to write of his prophesying lead directly to his son having no real concept of the purpose of the records entrusted to his care?

One journal entry each
With the possible exception of Enos, I get the impression that each of the writers after Jacob in the small plates wrote only once toward the end of their life in the plates before passing them on. Also, at least as early as Jarom they fully expected to be swept off of this choice land…

Enos, Jarom When I read that the Lord will only curse this land based on the iniquity of the people I realized that such cursing would naturally be meted out collectively and would be based on collective iniquity. Next it became clear that the wider our dependence is the more broadly the curse will be…

Jarom 1Jarom fully expected that the time would come that the Nephites would be destroyed – the only question was when it would happen. I guess that prophecy of Nephi was known among those who studied scripture. I thin kthere are many things where we remember to teach the truth but not, perhaps, the purpose…

Enos – JaromIt is interesting to think how few of the prophets in the Book of Mormon record their personal conversions – specifically the internal process which led to their conversion. I can only think of Nephi, Enos, and Alma. I also find it telling that Enos prayed and was promised that the record would…

JaromI have wondered at times about the life and history of the Nephites during the early years where we only have the record of the small plates. Based on Jarom’s words I think that the people went through the same cycles of prosperity and pride that are evident later as we get a more complete…
