Herod wanted to see Jesus
How did I miss the fact that Herod wished to have Jesus come before him after he hard rumors that Jesus was John the Baptist come to life again. That suggests more guilt/remorse over killing John than I had expected.

Always with Christ
While there were many people who came to hear Jesus when he taught nearby it sounds like there were some who followed him and were consistently at His side. Unsurprisingly the apostles were among that number but there were at least three women who were also in that inner circle. Mary Magdalene being the first…

“I am not worthy”
Why did the centurion think himself unworthy to have Jesus comes to his home? Was it a matter of respect for some aspect of mosaic law?

Twisted logic
It takes a twisted sort of logic to conclude that healing someone on the sabbath is a Bad Thing™ as if Heavenly Father is more concerned with static rules than with His children. The rules are meant to help the children, not prevent them from getting help. Why call ye me “lord, lord” and do…

Jesus’ childhood
From the account of Luke it seems that Jesus had an unremarkable childhood except for three incidents (two of which took place before He was two weeks old). That makes sense as I recognize how much Jesus didn’t stand out prior to His ministry. It would require real spiritual insight to recognize how special He…

The whole multitude were praying
We focus on the thoughts and prayers of Zacharias as he was burning incense but I wonder if there was an abundance of prayers among the multitude outside for the coming of the Messiah.

The centurion’s faith
The explanation the Venusian gives, that he is accustomed to giving orders and having them carried out, isn’t a full explanation of his faith. Even if he was accustomed to having orders carried out, his faith was that Jesus would be obeyed by nature herself. That’s not the same as having subordinates obey orders.
