  • Condemned

    Abinadi testified after only the first two commandments that Noah and his priests were not even keeping it teaching their people to keep those two commandments. That is not to suggest that they were doing better at keeping the next eight.

  • Leaders

    Noah is a reminder of how much influence a wicked leader has to bring out the baseness in his people.

  • Righteousness = Industry

    Righteous people are consistently industrious. Whether their work is economically rewarded or not, their righteousness leads them to do things of value for themselves and the people around them. People who are focused on consumption and satisfying their appetites are not seeking the kingdom of God and His righteousness.

  • Overzealous

    When people get caught up in a certain idea so much that they stop looking for further insight and begin falling for confirmation bias then they begin to make mistakes that seem obvious to everyone else.

  • Sharing context

    Notice how important it was that the people understand each other such that the first thing Ammon and Limhi do is share the history of their respective people. With a common understanding of where each of them is coming from experientially they are able to work together.

  • Zeniff

    When Ammon heard Limhi reference Zeniff as his grandfather his heart must have lifted in hope. When Limhi heard Ammon reference Zeniff as the leader of the people whom Ammon sought he knew that everything had changed for his enslaved people.

  • Covenant people

    Benjamin knew that the people in Zerahemla were a covenant people even before they had made the covenant that he knew they were ready to make. That is how he knew that he would be able to give them a name by which they should be called in the resurrection.

  • Powerful contrast

    Part of the power of the sermon of king Benjamin was the swing from viewing themselves as less than the dust of the Earth to feeling the overwhelming feeling of being forgiven and loved by their Savior.

  • How much was new?

    Aside from some details, we know that the bill of what king Benjamin taught in his great sermon was already known among the Nephite prophets for generations and was taught by them. That makes me wonder if this was new to the descendents of Mulek or to any of the other people of king Benjamin.…

  • What expectations?

    What did the people of king Benjamin expect when Mosiah called them to come together to the temple? I would imagine they weren’t particularly surprised that Mosiah might call them at the command of his father. Did they suspect that Benjamin might be passing the throne to Mosiah?
