  • They who have published peace

I expect that Abinadi found consolation for himself as he talked about those who have published peace—or in other words have prophesied of Christ—because he knew himself to be among that group who would be blessed for so doing.

  • Wounded for our transgressions

We must always keep in mind that Christ was wounded for us—sometimes with us but often in place of us—and it is with His stripes that we can be healed. Our stripes at best can lead to scars. His stripes can lead to perfection.

  • Taking His name in vain

We have come to associate course language with taking the name of God in vain and certainly sometimes that is exactly what it is but it seems so clear as I read tonight that another, more damning form of breaking that commandment is doing what the priests of Noah did in taking the role of…

  • Ancient MAGA

The people who delivered Abinadi to King Noah sounds like MAGA people, flattering their leader and blinding themselves both to his wickedness and to their own.

  • Being ruled by wickedness

Sometimes people are tired by switches not by their own choosing, as the people under king Noah didn’t choose him, but other times, like many now, people choose to follow wicked leaders.

The reality is that even if that had not been his intent it would be a natural result of displacing one group to make space for another unless the group being displaced was…

  • Knit together

The first thing that Limhi did after finding out that Ammon had come from Zerahemla was to have admin teach his people about the history since they had separated and then to teach Ammon about the history of his people since they had separated. Starting from a shared past they began by articulating the experiences…

  • Left behind

I wonder what Ammon’s men who were left behind thought when he took three of his men and then failed to return for several days.

  • Why record their names?

King Benjamin wasn’t trying to form a church or other organization so why did he think it necessary to take them names of those who had entered the covenant? (Especially since it was basically everybody.) I assume it was simply because record keeping is consistent with how the Lord has always operated among people.
