A chance to testify
Emma and I had to run some errands this evening and while we were out I realized that it was her week for a meal so we went to Olive Garden. I’ve been thinking over the last couple of days about various peaceful memories related to gospel-centered activities and music from my youth and while…

From good to bad to good
We had another good day with conference and again capped it off with the family playing Jackbox but in the evening Emma tried to get a drink and the faucet head just came off in her hand so we had to buy a new faucet so we could even use the kitchen sink. It went…

A meal and some perspective
“A good man learns from his mistakes. A great man learns from the mistakes of others” and I would add that a father hopes that others will learn from his mistakes. The big thing for today was going to meet Savannah and Aaron for dinner. I’ve been planning this since Savannah talked to me about…

No authority
Once again we got word about the kids gravitating toward trashy content on YouTube (to put it nicely). I responded by taking all their computers and we got to listen to Enoch arguing about how our boundaries are stupid and we’re just being touchy. The kids argued that “it was all in the past” and…

I told her it was too late in the evening and said we could do that tomorrow. Teen minutes later she came back and asked me “so, what about…

Home from vacation
We had a nice, leisurely morning and then a pleasant, unhurried drive home. In the way I got to talk to Laura about scheming get what she wants in life (as in, she should be scheming rather than just accepting what comes her way). We had as pleasant visit with Savannah before she had to…

And now Ezra
Today just before I arrived home Bex called to tell me that Ezra had beat up Noah again. Bex informed us that she planned to call the police next time. I agreed with her although I felt that me calling the police after the fact when I wasn’t even there during the assault didn’t make…

A new tool
I spent a good deal of time today configuring the router to limit what the kids could access on their computers. The breakthrough was discovering that they need to connect directly to the router WiFi and not through the Google mesh WiFi. Now we’ll just have to see how effective this is.

Sad day
In some ways this day was basically inevitable—a matter of when it would happen and who would be involved more than a question of if it would happen. Tonight I walked into Enoch’s room to call him and Emma for scriptures and found Emma in her underwear jumping off of Enoch. Apparently he bribed her…
