  • No cause to stumble

Let us not therefore judge one another any more: but judge this rather, that no man put a stumblingblock or an occasion to fall in his brother’s way. Romans 14:13 This is such good counsel. Most of the time it is not our place to judge. Outside of specific situations we should refrain from judging…

  • “Confess with your mouth”

I see that Romans 10 is the doctrinal basis for the teaching that all people need to do is confess Christ with their mouth to receive salvation. Those are the words of Paul but this is all part of the same confusing sermon where we are clearly lacking some context. I also notice string traces…

  • Bits of clarity

Much of what Paul says makes little sense to me. Either I’m not understanding him or his message has been muddled or he was still figuring out how to articulate his thoughts.

  • A solid place

Christ is the solid place upon which men can build safely. He alone is the destination upon which they can land in the seat of spiritual storm and not be sweet away if they will cling to Him. Any other foundation will crumble in the storm sooner or later.

  • A testimony of the resurrection

A testimony of Christ is incomplete at best of it does not include a testimony of his resurrection from the dead. When the apostles sought to replace Judas they made a testimony of the resurrection of Christ one of the defining characteristics of who they would choose. A testimony today cannot be that He lived,…

  • He came to serve and not to be served

While it is appropriate that people should sell to serve the Savior – that is about us and our recognition of our place relative to Him, not about what His purpose and expectation were. The same hold true for our current leaders. They sell not to be served even though we should sell to serve…
