Dissensions under Benjamin
I never paid attention before to the record that there were many dissensions to there Lamanites from among the people ruled by Benjamin. If we were to look at the history of the people in the Americas outside these prophetic records the spiritual ebb and flow as well as the political/social changes among the various…

In tune with wisdom beyond my own
I am trying to be like Mormon (among others) in staying in tune with the wisdom of God to drive actions that I might not have the wisdom to consciously decide to pursue based on my own knowledge.

History in the Words of Mormon
Why did the Words of Mormon contain any history besides his explanation of how/why he included the small plates of Nephi?

One journal entry each
With the possible exception of Enos, I get the impression that each of the writers after Jacob in the small plates wrote only once toward the end of their life in the plates before passing them on. Also, at least as early as Jarom they fully expected to be swept off of this choice land…

Words of Mormon 1 The way Mormon writes here makes me wonder what order the plates were in. I had always assumed that Mormon’s abridgment of the time from Nephi to Mosiah came first followed by the small plates then the remainder of the the Book of Mormon from the Words of Mormon to the…

Omni – Words of MormonI find it interesting that Jarom said that the plan of salvation had already been revealed upon the plates and “what could I write more” and then his son, Enos said that the purpose of keeping the plates is to “preserve our genealogy.” It almost sounds like Jarom did not pass…

Words of Mormon 1I think that Mormon wrote the Words of Mormon after abridging the history down to Benjamin but then inserted the small plates before his explanation. If we had both it might have been confusing to re-read the same section of history and then understand why it was included twice. As it is,…

Words of Mormon 1I had wondered if Mosiah had any legal authority among the Nephites before he lead away the righteous from the land of Nephi but that question seems to be answered by the fact that he had the plates of Nephi that were handed down the Nephite line of kings.
